For many years Greenburgh has prohibited overnight parking on town streets in unicorporated Greenburgh from December 1 to March 15th. At the Town Board meeting on November 24th the Town Board members authorized the Greenburgh Police department to issue exemptions to those who experience hardships (example: disabilities, short driveways). There is a $25 non refundable permit application. The police will review each of the requests and may issue parking exemption stickers to those who meet the criteria. When snow is forecast the cars must be removed and will be towed if the vehicles are not removed in a timely manner. The application can be found by clicking the link below. Many residents have complained over the years about the hardships of the overnight snow prohibition ordinance. The purpose of the snow ordinance is to enable the Highway Department to clear roads of snow by not having cars in the road. But, in recent years it hasn't snowed frequently. If it's 50 degrees the town doesn't need to have all the cars off the road. I think the new permit exemption process will be a major quality of life enhancement for some residents.  PAUL FEINER
