The engineer has modified the drawings to adjust for the various sight distance issues that we have encountered. We are just waiting for a confirmation from the contractor as to when he can finish the work.
UPDATE- ARDSLEY VILLAGE TO MAKE PRESENTATION TO TOWN BOARD ON THEIR PROPOSED HIGHWAY GARAGE NEAR AF VETERAN PARK NEXT WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT TOWN BOARD MEETING--ADDITIONAL ACCESS ONTO OLYMPIC LANE TO BE DISCUSSED
The Ardsley Board of Trustees approved the purchase of property located at 220 Heatherdell Road, just across from McDowell Park, with the intention of building a highway garage on the site.
The current highway garage sits on NYS Thruway Authority property. The DPW’s actual needs are for a garage of approximately two and a half times what is currently available, along with a salt storage barn, a fuel station, and truck and employee parking. The garage was moved to its current location in 1978 as a “temporary” site until a more suitable location could be found. The Village uses the property under permit from the NYS Thruway which could require the Village to relocate at any time. The current facility is inadequate, inefficient and in poor condition. Approximately 80% of the highway vehicles and heavy equipment are kept outdoors, which requires additional ongoing maintenance and shortens the life span of the equipment. The mechanics “bay” is greatly undersized. A safe and sanitary working facility for its employees in accordance with good labor practices is required.
For many years, the Village has sought to find a site for a new garage. The Village has reviewed the feasibility of a number of sites that have proven to be unavailable or inappropriate as a highway garage site.
The Village has hired a construction manager and engineering firm to provide for the design and construction oversight of the new facility. The Village is now seeking to work directly with the Town of Greenburgh to provide for the most efficient means of ingress and egress through the property and to provide additional access onto Olympic Lane (AF Veteran Park). They will make a presentation to the Town Board next Wed, October 28 at 7:30 PM.
UPDATE HARTSDALE NATIVE WILL BE ABLE TO VOTE IN HER COLLEGE TOWN AFTER BEING DENIED RIGHT TO VOTE.
Earlier this week I reported that Kaitlyn Dias -a Hartsdale native and student at U of Conn- was told that Connecticut would not let her vote absentee because she was studying remotely in Hartsdale due to COVID. She was very upset. I reached out to US Senators. Kaitlyn was interviewed by two metropolitan TV stations. And got some good news. She can vote. Am thrilled! I hope that all students who are studying remotely are able to vote this year. If you are aware of any other students experiencing problems please advise by e mailing me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com PAUL FEINER
Dear Mr. Feiner,
Thank you so much for your ongoing support and for helping me fight for my right to vote! I am so grateful for you and all you have done for me. Both PIX11 and NBC aired the interviews with me and contacted the Mansfield, CT town clerk office. NBC told me today that Mansfield agreed to issue me an absentee ballot so I can vote! Hopefully they follow through with this and I receive it in the mail shortly. I am once again so appreciative of you. You have made a big difference in my life and I thank you.
Best regards,
Kaitlyn Dias
