COVID 19 has impacted the arts. Seasons have been suspended. Stages have gone dark. Artists--musicians, dancers, performers have lost their jobs. Restaurants near theaters have been hurt. Some artists are offering online classes and virtual concerts.
Carole Demas, Legendary Broadway and TV star, who (among her many shows) created the iconic role of Sandy in GREASE and Carole from TV's beloved Magic Garden, and a Greenburgh Resident for over 30 years, is embarking on a new virtual concert series from her home. The music will be a wide range of songs from Broadway, The Great American Songbook, POP, Classic Rock and possibly some folk music as well.Carole Demas has also contributed thousands of hours of volunteer services to the town and to the E Irvington community She is on the Board of the E Irvington Civic Association. She was one of the leading members of the committee that successfully persuaded the town, county and state to preserve 200 acres of parkland at Taxter Ridge. She raised $25,000 for Taxter Ridge at the beginning of the citizens effort to save this open space which led to the preservation of woodlands by organizing concerts. She performed a concert for families and resident tortoises at the 30th anniversary celebration of the Greenburgh Nature Center and also performed at a fundraising event for the historic Irvington Town Hall theater. In addition she has helped teens by Judging several Westchester Teen Idol Performances. She gave her time - singing at the Irvington High School Latin Club.In partnership with Musae.me they will be live streaming Carole and Ian Herman (her musical director for over 40 years), on October 2nd, at 7:30pm.
