Link: Town Board discussion- housing could replace Maplewood Swim and Tennis Club; Greenburgh Library to open for browsing next week-limited hours
Last night the Greenburgh kown Board met with Richard Lewis of the Maplewood Swim and Tennis Club on W Hartsdale Ave. He discussed reasons why Maplewood plans to sell the property. Mr. Lewis mentioned that besides a developer interested in building single family homes that others have been in touch with Mamplewood aobut purchasing the property for different uses. An Assisted Living Facility recently withdrew their application because NYS DOT indicated that they would not authorize left turns to be made on W Hartsdale Ave to the facility.
We also heard from a developer, Valon Nikci, who wishes to build single family homes ($900,000+ range) on the property. Up to 18 homes could be built on half acre lots but because of the topography of the property fewer homes will probably be approved at the site. We invited residents who live near the property to express their thoughts at this early stage (the developer hasn’t even purchased the property yet). We want the process to be transparent, open and want the community to be partners with the town and property owner in this important land use decision. The initial reaction to the proposal was very favorable.
If the application is filed we will invite the community to participate in the review process and will advise of upcoming meetings and public hearings.
