[ARCHIVED] Rotary Partners with Police and Feeding Westchester to Help Greenburgh Seniors

ROTARY PARTNERS WITH POLICE AND COMMUNITY CENTER AND FEEDING WESTCHESTER TO DISTRIBUTE PANDEMIC RELIEF TO GREENBURGH SENIORS

ROTARY PARTNERS WITH POLICE AND COMMUNITY CENTER AND FEEDING WESTCHESTER TO
DISTRIBUTE PANDEMIC RELIEF TO GREENBURGH SENIORS

The Hartsdale Greenburgh Rotary has joined with the Friends of the Theodore
D. Young Community Center, Feeding Westchester and the Greenburgh Police
Department to sponsor a distribution of health, wellness and hygiene
essentials, as well as perishable food, to homebound seniors living in
Greenburgh.

On Thursday, May 28, members of the Rotary joined volunteers at the
Community Center to pack bags and boxes, load them into cars and deliver
them to households in the area. This is part of an ongoing effort at the
Community Center to distribute food to the community on a weekly basis,
which the Rotary has joined as a partner.

The contribution from the Rotary ’will go a long way to enhancing the lives
of our homebound seniors during this pandemic,’ according to David Zenon, PO
of the Greenburgh Police Department.

As a part of Rotary International, the Hartsdale Greenburgh Rotary is a
service organization for the town, the region, the county and the wider
world. Local efforts include literacy, hunger and local school support
projects, including a Student of the Month Award. As a part of Rotary
International, the Club’s world-wide mission is to promote peace through
understanding and friendship. Some of Rotary’s International Activities
include Polio Plus, the attempt to eradicate Polio from the planet;
Rotaplast, a program to correct juvenile cleft palates; Gift of Life, a
program to correct heart defects in children; and Water For the World, a
program which brings clean water to communities all over the world who lack
this basic resource.
