4th and 5th grader’s present pedestrian safety suggestions to Town Board--they call themselves the Legendary Robots

Pedestrian safety is a concern of all of us. Yesterday, Greenburgh experienced the 9th pedestrian accident in recent months.  We’re exploring different ideas that can make our area safer and are so pleased that 3 Ardsley fifth grader’s and one 4th grader made a very impressive recommendation to the Town Board this past Wednesday night at our meeting. The link to Maitry, Aditri, Devaki and Naumika’s presentation is below. Their concept works in Portugal. What do you think?  Please watch their video.   We’re going to review their suggestions.  This summer Greenburgh student interns working with Town Clerk Judith Beville, Town Attorney Tim Lewis and my office will also try to come up with recommendations and lobby for implementation of additional safety action steps at different levels of government.

Hello Mr. Feiner,

We (Ardsley FLL team "Legendary Robots") met with you at Town hall office, on Oct 16th, to discuss about possible public space/town problems that we could focus on, for our FLL project. You had then suggested that pedestrian safety is a major concern and our team decided to focus on that problem.

We are very pleased to inform you that our team has come up with a possible solution! to help prevent accidents in urban areas like ours. Our FLL project, Cross-E-Road was awarded 1st prize in qualifying round and we are going to now compete in FLL Regionals !! in 2 weeks (on Sat Feb 8th).

We (our FLL team) would like to present our pedestrian safety project solution to The Greenburgh Town Board and see how we can improvise on this solution, build a working prototype and in near future, with the help of Town Board, we can even seek necessary approvals to test it on the roads!
