Should Planning Board start and end their meetings earlier?

CAN’T MAKE WEDNESDAY’S TOWN BOARD MEETING AND WANT TO TALK TO THE TOWN BOARD DIAL DEMOCRACY

The next Town Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 12th at 7:30 PM. If you can’t make the meeting and want to speak to the Board while we are in session you can participate –dial democracy. Call the Town Clerk’s office at 989-1500 before Tuesday at 5. Provide the Town Clerks office with your phone number. And we will call the first 4 people who request to participate during our public comment portion of the meeting. You will have 3 minutes to discuss any town issue of your choosing.

PLANNING BOARD CONSIDERS EARLIER TIME TO START AND END MEETING—WHAT DO YOU THINK?

The Town of Greenburgh Planning Board is considering an earlier start and end time for its meetings. Presently, Planning Board meetings begin at 8:00 pm and conclude no later than 11:00 pm. Public Hearings and Public Discussions, where the public has an opportunity to pose questions and comment on an application, generally begin around 8:45 pm.

You are receiving this email because it is important for Planning Board members to know how residents and other applicants, along with the professionals who represent them and appear before the Board, feel about any change in the meeting times.

Accordingly, the Planning Board is seeking your input into whether, like many neighboring municipalities, it should begin and end its meetings earlier. For example, with a start time of 7:00 pm, Public Hearings and Public Discussions could begin at 7:45 or 8:00 pm. Meetings would conclude no later than 10:00 pm. Alternatively, if meetings were to begin at 7:30 pm, Public Hearings and Public Discussions could begin at 8:15 or 8:30 pm. Meetings would conclude no later than 10:30 pm.

The Planning Board would like to know if an earlier start time would be a benefit or burden to the public and the professionals and applicants who participate in the meetings or watch them on television.

Please respond to Matthew Britton, Assistant Planner, Department of Community Development and Conservation (mbritton@greenburghny.com) to let the Planning Board know if you prefer no change, or an earlier start time of either 7:00 or 7:30 pm.
