Property could eventually be used for a right turn lane to reduce traffic congestion on W Hartsdale Ave
Over a year ago the town acquired two properties on West Hartsdale Ave (10 and 14 W Hartsdale Ave). The two properties will be demolished Monday. The Greenburgh Police will be on hand as it may be necessary to briefly close the right lane abutting the houses. We anticipate that the demolition will take place around midday. The rest of the work will take place on private property. The contractors will have flaggers and laborers to direct traffic as trucks are loading in and out periodically.
We are studying the possibility of asking the state to create a right turn only lane on W Hartsdale Ave (where the properties exist) to reduce traffic congestion going to the train station , Central Ave & E Hartsdale Ave. West Hartsdale Ave is a NYS road so they would have to approve the right turn lane option. Until that happens the town will consider using the property for other purposes. One option that needs to be further studied: using the property for temporary additional parking. There is a shortage of parking spots for on E Hartsdale Ave.
