2020 SANITATION CALENDAR IS NOW ON LINE..SPECIAL COMMINGLED RECYCLING NEXT SATURDAY DECEMBER 28, RESULTS OF SURVEY MONKEY RESPONSES...SIGN UP FOR SANITATION ALERTS
BECAUSE OF THE TIMING OF THE HOLIDAYS - WE WILL HAVE A SPECIAL COMMINGLED PICKUP NEXT SATURDAY DECEMBER 28
The 2020 Sanitation Collection Schedule provides everyone with two garbage collections, one paper recycling collection and one commingle recycling collection on the same non-holiday weekly schedule as the previous 2019 Sanitation Collection Schedule. However, during holiday weeks, the 2020 Sanitation Schedule is modified to provide all zones with the same number of garbage and recycling collection services. This means that for most Holiday weeks, commingle recycling collection is postponed until the following week in favor of a garbage and paper recycling collection.
The 2020 Sanitation Calendars are in the process of being mailed out and each residence should receive one by next week. For those residents who would like to view the 2020 Sanitation Calendars in advance, the Calendars are now available on the Town website under the Bureau of Sanitation webpage. This webpage can be found at: https://www.greenburghny.com/199/Bureau-of-Sanitation.
Please remind residents to use the search by address tool or Sanitation Calendar Map to confirm the Sanitation Calendar assigned to their zone. For residents who are unsure which Sanitation Calendar is right for them, the Town Department of Public Works is available at (914)-989-1580 for further assistance.
In addition, please remind residents that the 2020 Sanitation Schedule is also available digitally on the Bureau of Sanitation webpage as well as through the Recycle Right Westchester App. This App can be downloaded from either GooglePlay or Apple AppStore and allows users to sign up for future Sanitation-related alerts from the Town of Greenburgh.
With regards to this upcoming Holiday week, please advise all residents that will be a Special Commingle Recycling collection on Saturday, December 28, 2019. All commingle recycling must be placed at the curbside by 7:00 am. An alert will be sent out through the Recycle Right Westchester App to all those who have signed up for this service.
RESULTS OF RECENT SURVEY MONKEY RESPONSE TO SANITATION SCHEDULE--WE RECEIVED 539 RESPONSES
252 or 46.75% of respondents wanted the option ,” If a holiday falls on a Monday garbage would be picked up in the south section of town on Tuesday and Thursday. In the northern section of town garbage would be picked up on Wednesday and Friday. There would be no comingled recycling
pickup only on holiday weeks.”
254 or 47.12 % of respondents wanted to “please keep sanitation schedule as is”
The remaining 33 people or 6.1% of respondents wanted to “Rotate the calendar. One year Monday pickups for the south section. Tuesday for the north section. The next year—do the opposite. This way every section of town would get the same service on alternate years” A visual representation of these results is below:
