An inspiring story of a 30 year old stroke victim who overcame a coma and is on the road to recovery

Would like to share other stories about individuals who overcame critical illnesses with residents who are stressed out, worried and feeling hopeless when a family member or friend is diagnosed with a major medical illness. Have hope. Never give up

I  am planning to compile a list of inspiring stories about people who overcame serious medical problems that I can share with residents who are stressed out, worried and feeling hopelesss  when a family member or close friend is critically ill.  The goal: to encourage them to have hope and to never give up. Please e mail me examples at pfeiner@greenburghny.com that can be shared.

The Gift: An inspiring story about a 30 year old woman who had a hemorrhagic stroke, was in a coma and survived –the power of presence, family support and strength

When one has a beloved friend or relative who has become crticially ill, or is suffering from a dehabilitating  medical conditon, it's easy to get discouraged. Even so, it can help to know there are heartwarming stories about people who have overcome the odds even when their prognosis was bleak.

Caryn Hirshleifer and her daughter Jennifer have written a very inspiring book about an experience that should give hope to those who need it. Days before her 31st birthday, Jenn unexpecttedley suffered a massive bleed in her brain, became comatose for weeks and was clinging to life . Her family and loved ones were forced to grapple with Jenn's potential sudden death.  A miracle happened: Jenn survived and began a painstaking slow and uneven  road to recovery. She and her mom wrote "The Gift" in which they and her other loved ones, including Jenn's boyfriend, highlight their experiences and how they helped her to work to  overcome her difficulties. They are now seeking an  agent in order to  have the book published.

If you know anyone who is in  a critical or dehabilitating  condition, please encourage their families to listen to this interview at the link below  on You Tube.
