Bishop Jude Arogundade is no stranger to Greenburgh. The former Pastor at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford - Bishop Jude is now the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ondo Nigeria. Bishop Jude is fighting terrorism in Nigeria. On June 5, 2022 there was a horrible terrorist incident in Ondo. 41 people died and over 70 were badly wounded. One person remains paralyzed from a Spinal Chord injury. Bishop has been invited to speak to the House of Commons in England, with the President of Hungry and in front of Congressional members of Washington DC. He continues to challenge the Nigeria government to hold the terrorists accountable but to no avail.
I interviewed the Bishop on my WVOX radio program recently. Nini Deluca, USA Secretary to the Bishop of Ondo and a community leader in Elmsford who appreciated Bishop Jude's dedication, kindness and leadership abilities when he was the spiritual leader of Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford, is also a guest. In 2022 Inside the Vatican Magazine named Bishop Jude as one of the top ten Catholic individuals who made a difference in 2022- and beyond.
We are so proud of Bishop Jude's connection to Elmsford and Greenburgh. He inspired us when he lived and worked in our community. And - he inspires us now.
