PIckelball is a growing sport --very popular with seniors. The Parks & Recreation department is reviewing suggestions to upgrade our courts. Pickelball combines elements of tennis, badminton and pingpong
The Greenburgh Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee will be meeting with Pickelball enthusiasts who would like to see the town upgrade our pickelball courts. There seems to be a demand by enthusiastic pickelball players for the town to promote this sport--which is gaining popularity. Pickelball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and pingpong. IN particular seniors like this sport because its less taxing on the body.
Greenburgh Parks and Recreation has been in the forefront for developing pickleball in Westchester County. We started a program at East Rumbrook Park after meeting with pickleball advocates where participation continues to grow. We also installed regulation pickleball netting on two tennis courts at the AFV Park tennis facility. However, some of our courts are not in the greatest of shape.

If you enjoy the sport or have any thoughts about the program we offer in Greenburgh please e mail townboard@greenburghny.com. We'd like to hear from you. If you want to take up the sport and are not aware how fun the activity is we encourage you to reach out to the Greenburgh Parks department. Craig Scialdone is recreation supervisor. His phone is 989 1817 or cscialdone@greenburghny.com. I have asked the parks department to provide the Town Board with options where we could offer additional courts.
