coops are successful around the nation. Community owned! We welcome your ideas tonight
TONIGHT: YOUR FAIRVIEW ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IDEAS ARE WELCOME AT COMMUNITY FORUM - at Town Hall or on Zoom, 6 PM
A new Fairview Empowerment Group is forming and looking for your participation and ideas. There are currently five economic development initiatives on the table awaiting your review and feedback, which involve opening or creating: a traditional grocery store close to Manhattan Ave. corridor; a consumer/user-owned grocery coop; a Fairview resident owned and managed business that is a full-service grocery; a not-for-profit space whose mission is to be an incubator for local products, services and other locally owned businesses that is governed and managed by the community; or a hybrid of any of the above. Tonight we will hear from experts about the honest pros and cons of these various scenarios.
The most important aspect of this space is empowerment for the community that is facilitated by the community, and potentially owned by the community. And the most important aspect of tonight’s forum is hearing from YOU the people!
Please join us online or at Greenburgh Town Hall, 177 Hillside Ave, on Thursday September 9th from 6-8pm for a community conversation on what this economic empowerment entity can be with your help. This will be the first of a series of such meetings and the start of an important, innovative initiative to improve and empower our community from the ground up.
Thursday, Sept 9, 6 p.m.
Town Hall auditorium, 177 Hillside Ave, Greenburgh
