[ARCHIVED] catastrophic flooding throughout the town--stay home

We're not alone in experiencing flooding problems but will try hard to address the damages from this evenings storm--one of the worst, if not the worst, we have experienced in decades

Catastrophic flooding here in Greenburgh. Flooding problems all over the northeast, NY and Westchester. We're not alone. Spoke with the Commissioner of Public Works a few minutes ago. Roads are flooded. Some roads are closed because of the heavy rains. Municipal buildings have experienced flooding. Basements in private homes are flooded. Stay inside. It's dangerous to be outside. So far no reports of power outages but that could change during the evening.  Will check to see if FEMA or any government agency will provide financial assistance for property damages.  So, keep records.  This is one of the worst storms we've experienced.
In the past the fire departments have helped people with flooding in their basements. I'm sure that each of the departments is overwhelmed with calls tonight. So, wouldn't be surprised if they can't handle every request for assistance.  We will call our highway crews early in the AM.  Everyone is inundated with phone calls. We are sorry for the problems.

We expect sanitation services to continue but there could be delays or problems depending on the streets.  We expect numerous calls and problems tomorrow .

This is one of the worst --possibly the worst storm--we have experienced in decades.
