We have been organizing International Day of Yoga since the United Nations approved June 21 as the International Day of Yoga in 2014 endorsing a vision set out by India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. We organized IDY 2015, 2016 and 2017 with Westchester County and from 2018, we have been organizing IDY with the Town of Greenburgh. Town Supervisor, Paul Feiner and the Park and Recreation have been helping generously to bring awareness of Yoga among Greenburgh residents.
Yoga has additional relevance as we are going through this unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic. Yoga is a holistic approach for health and wellbeing and is a powerful tool for dealing with stress besides myriad other physical benefits.
Daily Yoga practice cleanse the entire systems in our body; respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular, nervous, endocrine, muscular, etc. It also helps to alleviate day to day stresses.
Therefore, we encourage all the Greenburgh residents to join us and practice Yoga to make your life less stressful and healthier. Besides this annual public event, we do weekly Yoga via zoom and Facebook to help out the community.
This year we (Indian Cultural Association of North America) in partnership with the Town of Greenburgh, Greenburgh Parks and Recreation and the Consulate General of India is organizing International Day of Yoga on June 19th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Rochard Presser Park, Hartsdale, New York. Other supporting organizations include; White Plain Hospital, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, USA, Cricket teams (Cricket Club of Westchester and Westchester Lions), Ekal Vidyalaya, Indian Center of Westchester, Sewa International, USA etc.
