Rumbrook-Knollwood Interconnection Transmission Main Project
June 26th, 2020 Update:
Water main installation will continue along Old Knollwood Road and then continue south on Hartsdale Road. During the two- week period beginning June 29th, 2020, the pavement on Hartsdale Road and Canterbury Road will be sawcut along the path of the new main. Additionally, a second construction crew will begin water main installation on Pomander Road, working towards Canterbury Road. Temporary lane closures are expected as well as temporary closures of Old Knollwood Road during work hours (7:00 AM to 3:30PM). As always, please slow down and use caution when traveling through the construction areas.
May 8 ,2020 Update: The Town’s Contractor has set up staging areas on Knollwood Road (at Stadium Road) and in Rumbrook Park. On Monday, May 11, tree clearing and site work will take place at the staging area on Pomander Drive near the proposed Sprain Brook Parkway crossing. Pipe installation is expected to begin next week at the intersection of Stadium Road and Knollwood Road and will proceed north along the proposed route.
Dear Resident,
The Town of Greenburgh Consolidated Water District will soon begin construction on the Rumbrook-Knollwood Interconnection Transmission Main project. This major Town water infrastructure project will involve the installation of over one mile of 30-inch diameter water main that will connect the Rumbrook Pump Station to the Knollwood Pump Station in the Town of Greenburgh. Connecting these two pump stations will build redundancy into the water distribution system and allow for one of the stations to be taken offline to facilitate repairs, should the need arise.
The new transmission main will begin at the Rumbrook Pump Station, located in East Rumbrook Park, and proceed north, below grade, before crossing over the Catskill Aqueduct and then under the Sprain Brook Parkway. After crossing under the parkway, the path of construction will proceed north on Pomander Drive, south on Canterbury Road, north on Hartsdale Road, east on Old Knollwood Road, and southeast on Stadium Road, ending at the connection with the Knollwood Pump Station.
Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2020 and will last approximately 8 to 10 months. Normal work hours are Monday to Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM. Construction will take place mostly within the roadway or shoulder area. The construction will require periodic closures of the roadway at the worksite, and will result in detours around the worksite during the day. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time. As always, please slow down and use caution when traveling through the construction areas. Project updates will be provided on this page.
