Office of the Town Clerk  - Immediate Need

Job Description / Examples of Tasks: 

Provide clerical and office support of a routine nature associated with the functions of the department.  Assist in answering phone(s) and directing to the appropriate personnel, respond to email inquiries, assist the public with licensing including but not limited to handicap tags; marriage licenses, hunting/fishing licenses; grand opening permits; waiver of 30 day notices for liquor licenses.  Provide certified copies of marriage, birth and death certificates.  Respond for requests for copies of Town Board resolutions, reports and/or budget, voter inquiries, voter registration/absentee ballots, distribution of Town Street Map, sales tax letters, apostilles, and certification of documents.  Receive , receiving and date verification of all bids, claims and petition(s), track and keep all documents relative to the Ethics Board, provide information for inquiries received not relative to the Town Clerk’s Office.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Attributes: 

Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures, equipment and business English; knowledge of proper grammatical usage, punctuation and spelling.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access; Adobe; Windows 7 and 10.  Able to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets for correspondence, reports, records, maintenance of files.  Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position; ability to operate a variety of office machines; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to deal effectively with the public; ability to get along well with others; discretion; tact; courtesy, accuracy; good judgement; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Employment of competitive positions within the Town of Greenburgh are regulated by New York State Civil Service laws.  Those laws require an examination to be taken and placement on a Certrification of Eligibles list to be considered for employment within minicipal government.
