DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION
POSITION:   1 – Maintenance Mechanic (Equipment & Grounds)
Job Group: Blue Collar – CSEA             Salary: $63,655.00                WORK WEEK:  40 hours

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs a wide variety of mechanical repair work and grounds keeping tasks essential to the maintenance of the grounds and parks of a school district or municipality; does related work as required.    
 
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THIS CLASS: An incumbent of this class is responsible for both the performance of all grounds keeping activities as well as the maintenance, operation and/or repair of all tools and equipment used to maintain the grounds and parks for a school district or municipality i.e. tractor and/ or riding mower, weed whacker, snow plow, leaf blowers, power saw, dump truck, etc.  Duties and responsibilities vary according to the season.  Spring to fall, the responsibilities of the position is primarily devoted to grounds keeping activities.  Fall through winter, the duties are primarily geared towards the maintenance, repair and servicing of the equipment, and the snow removal tasks of the facilities, as needed.  An incumbent of this class may be required to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings.  Supervision may be exercised over maintenance personnel assigned to the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (a) graduation from high school or trade school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years experience in the maintenance of parks and grounds, which much have included the operation of mechanical grounds equipment and automotive equipment: or (b) seven (7) years of the experience as defined in (a): or (c) satisfactory equivalent of the forgoing training and experience.
 
Note: Possession of a valid license to operate the appropriate motor vehicle in New York State at time of appointment.
 


SUMMER  SEASON  - CAMP VICTORY
 
Camp Victory: This camp is for individuals with developmental disabilities.  The camp provides a variety of activities such as arts & crafts, music, sports, tennis, swimming and trips.
 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: camp runs from June 29—August 7th (no camp on July 3rd)
Monday—Friday, from 8:30am - 3:30pm                         Camp location is at Ardsley High School
 
 POSITION:  1 – CAMP NURSE (Camp Victory)
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a registered nurse or a licensed practical nurse.  A desire and ability to work with developmentally disabled children.  Strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills

DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
POSITION
:   1 – Jr. Civil Engineer  (job description)
Please note this is a competitive civil service position and the successful applicant must meet the minimum qualifications for this title at the time of appointment, participate in the exam and be reachable to appoint into a permanent position.  

         
 
LOCATION:      Engineering (DPW) * Greenburgh Town Hall

Job Group: Group IX – CSEA                Salary: $42,498 - $69,283                 WORK WEEK:  35 hours 
 
      EXAMPLES OF WORK (Illustrative Only):
Incumbent will take applications for slopes, wetlands, as part of the building permit process.
Work with Engineering/Commissioner of Public Works team to develop specifications, bids, paving inspections, some survey, field work including but not limited to water outfalls and paving inspections. 
May be asked to perform drafting work, use various computer applications to assist in computing information.
 
     MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
At time of appointment (a)Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or closely related field OR (b)Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Engineering Technology or closely related field  AND  one (1) year of work experience, pre- or- post degree, which would have involved construction, surveying design, inspection or estimating.
