Assistant Planner – Town of Greenburgh, NY (Westchester County)

The Town of Greenburgh, NY (Westchester County) is seeking a full-time Assistant Planner for the Department of Community Development and Conservation. A description of work to be performed includes review of land use applications/plans (subdivision, site plan, etc.) for consistency with Town Code/Comprehensive Plan; review of SEQRA documentation; preparing maps and reports for land-use boards/committees. GIS knowledge is preferred.


Minimum acceptable training and experience: Either: (a) Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of experience in which the primary function of the position was urban or regional planning, architecture, engineering, or a related field; or (b) Bachelor's Degree in City, Urban, or Regional Planning, Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Traffic or similar), Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography or a related field. POSITION:   1 – Paralegal* (Provisional Permanent)
*This position is a competitive position and the successful candidate must meet the minimum qualifications at the time of hire and will be required to take the appropriate civil service exam for this title at a later date.

LOCATION: Town of Greenburgh – Office of the Town Attorney

WORK WEEK:  35 hours     SALARY:  $47,000.00 annual
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and possession of a certificate from a paralegal studies program accredited by the Standing Committee on Legal Assistants of the American Bar
Under general supervision, an incumbent in this class is responsible for performing various paralegal tasks in support of a jurisdiction’s legal department ort municipal attorney, Including research and preparation of legal documents and litigation cases.  Responsibilities may include extensive inter-office and public contact.  Does related work as required.

Good Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures; good knowledge of legal terminology; ability to gather assemble and analyze information; ability to use computer applications software; ability to understand and carry our oral and written instructions; ability to organize material concisely in writing and orally; ability to maintain effective working relationships, initiative, tact. Good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the requirements of the position.
