Water main update---the super rich find Greenburgh the best place to live
Release Date: February 06, 2019

We have an active water main break on Mt. Joy avenue, near Central Avenue.  Crew is now on site.

The super rich also want to live in Greenbugh –Our proximity to the beautiful Hudson, charming river villages, access to highways, parkways and train stations, superb parks and outstanding services make Greenburgh a better choice for some than some of the most exclusive locations in the country… Homes at Greystone on Hudson are $3 million and up!

The Town of Greenburgh is a diverse community. The Town facilitates the development of a wide variety of housing (affordability, age-targeted, special needs, etc.) through planning and zoning, public private partnerships, etc. At the Town Board work session on Tuesday, February 5th, a very unique concept proposal was presented to the Board associated with a previously approved 12-lot residential subdivision known as Greystone on Hudson.

Greystone on Hudson is a residential luxury estate development of 21 lots (9 in the Village of Tarrytown and 12 in the Tarrytown portion of unincorporated Greenburgh). The owner and site developer of this project appeared before the Town Board to seek the flexibility to construct additional accessory residential structures (pool house, caretaker residence, etc.) in connection with primary residences. These types of accessory units are customary with elaborate estates of this nature, and are not permitted in one-family residence districts. Greystone on Hudson seeks a Planned Unit Development (PUD) rezoning designation, which could facilitate the accessory structures.

Although as Town Supervisor I will not be in the market for any of these homes, I think it is great that such a grandiose and unique project like this is also a part of our community. I believe some of the allure to the project is shared by all residents of the Town (access to the Hudson River, excellent park system, recreation). The project is a phased development with three of the homes in Greenburgh complete or under construction. Ranging from $3 million and above, the homes generate significant property taxes. Part of the initial subdivision approval for the project included the preservation of approximately 23 acres of open space in the Town of Greenburgh (attached to Taxter Ridge Park Preserve). Greystone on Hudson also constructed the new parking lot to the park preserve, located off Taxter Road.

The Planning Board will hear the pre-application presentation from the developer at its meeting Wednesday, February 20th at 8:00pm. Any rezoning to a PUD would include site plan approval by the Planning Board, and be a part subsequent Town Board meetings, both of which include public hearings.
