FRIENDLY REMINDER-- FIRST HALF OF YOUR SCHOOL TAX BILL IS DUE ON MONDAY
Release Date: September 28, 2017

The first half of the school tax is due on September 30th of each year. Because September 30th falls on a weekend you will have until Monday, October 2nd to pay your school taxes (some extra time if you like to procrastinate!).  Town Hall will remain open till 7 PM on Monday evening.

Don't forget! The town is independent of the school district. But-we act as a tax collector. In fact, if you don't pay the school tax bill the town sends the school district a check for the amount due. They get paid whether you pay your bill or not. The town collects the money from delinquent taxpayers eventually--with penalties authorized by state law.

 

The school tax bill is sent to residents in September. Because school taxes comprise of more than 50% of your entire tax bill the state law authorizes residents to pay half the bill in September and the other half in January.

ON-LINE TAX PAYMENT BY CHECKING ACCOUNT (ACH DEBIT) new!

 

The Town of Greenburgh now has the ability to accept tax payments by ACH Debit of your checking account via the website.

 

This is a direct debit of your checking account for payment of your tax bill. There are no fees or surcharges associated with this type of payment.

ON-LINE TAX PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD

 

The Town of Greenburgh now has the ability to accept tax payments by credit cards via the telephone (1-800-272-9829) and internet.

 

Since the town cannot absorb the service fee charged by the credit card companies, (these companies will not allow us to pass this fee along to the public) an outside firm had to be retained. Please be aware that this firm charges a significant 'convenience fee' to process your tax payment.

 

Official Payments Corp. is the same company that is utilized by the IRS and several State tax collection agencies.

Town/County bill mailed on March 31, may be paid by April 30 without penalty

School bill mailed on August 31

 

1st half must be paid by September 30
