UPDATE GAS LEAK ON CENTRAL AVENUE AND FOUR CORNERS IN HARTSDALE
A few months ago there was a gas leak on Central Ave and the four corners in Hartsdale. During the evening hours (including after midnight) Con Ed crews have been out working making repairs. It’s been a long repair process with some inconveniences (especially people who live close to Central Ave) I have received some complaints from nearby residents about the lights and noise which has been keeping people up all hours of the night. At times portions of W Hartsdale Ave have been closed and cars driving from E Hartsdale Ave to Central Avenue haven’t been able to make left turns to Central Ave.
I asked Con Ed for a status update. This is what I received….

Con Edison continues replacing the gas main at Central and Hartsdale Avenues to ensure the safety and reliability of our gas system.
At the Intersection of Central Avenue & Hartsdale Avenue.
In our efforts to reduce noise in the overnight, we are limiting the use of noisy equipment after 10pm. The construction, trenching, phase of the project is estimated to last an additional 2- 3 weeks.
We will then install the pipe and our gas department will move in to complete the installation to the existing services.
Restoration will occur mid to end of August.
We apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause. We will provide updates as more details become available.
