Help the fire dept by clearing fire hydrant of snow...Friendly reminder: School taxes due Mon Feb 1
Release Date: January 25, 2016

If you live near a fire hydrant and if the fire department is covered with snow-- it would be greatly appreciated if you would clear the hydrant of the snow. In the event of an emergency the fire department will have an easier time coming to your assistance. The fire departments are independent of the town government. Any questions: Contact the fire department that serves you.

A friendly reminder--the second half of the taxes are due a week from today: Monday February 1, 2016. The tax department at Town Hall will be open till 7 PM on Monday.  Usually the second half of your school tax bill is due on January 31st.  But, this year January 31st falls on a Sunday so the law gives you an extra day to pay your taxes!

The link to the Receiver of Taxes website is posted below--which highlights how you can pay your taxes in person. You can pay your taxes on line by following the info in the link and can also pay your taxes via credit card (there is a service fee for credit card payments).

The town acts as a collector of taxes for the school districts but we have no control over how much the school taxes are. School districts are independent of the town government. Voters have the opportunity to vote on school budgets each year.  The town guarantees the school districts 100% of the taxes owed to them, whether you pay the school taxes or not.  Avoid paying penalties/late fees by paying your taxes on time.

School taxes are paid twice during the year --in September and in January.  If the link below does not open go to the town website: www.greenburghny.com. On the left side of the home page there is a category departments. Click tax department.
