Veterans reception honoring our local heroes rescheduled to October 3rd
Release Date: September 15, 2013

The annual Veterans reception honoring veterans who served our country has been rescheduled for Thursday evening, October 3 from 5 pm to 8 PM..
The event will be held rain or shine at the multipurpose building.  There is a nice outdoor picnic area – if the weather cooperates.  There will be delicious food served – all donated by local merchants and restaurants.  And, this event will provide veterans  with the opportunity to interact with members of our Veterans Advisory Committee, fellow veterans and elected officials.  One can also learn more about our exciting living history initiative – video interviews of veterans.
WE’D LIKE TO INVITE YOU TO BE PART OF OUR LIVING HISTORY PROJECT.  Alan Hochberg and Stephen Wittenberg of our Veterans Advisory Committee have been busy during the past few year interviewing veterans for our living history project.  Veterans are telling their story and the taped interviews will be archived at the Greenburgh Library and given to local schools.  We want to make sure that the role of our vetearns in preserving democracy is never forgotten.  The taped interviews will also be archived at the Library of Congress in Washington also!   We have already interviewed over 100 veterans of World War II and the Korean conflict.

We aired about 100+ video interviews during Memorial Day weekend on our public access TV stations and will broadcast the videos on other important days during the year  ( Veteran’s Day).  We will also show some of the interviews to veterans at the reception.  If you haven’t signed up for the interviews and are a veteran  please advise.
PAUL FEINER
