I wanted to let all residents know about the new Middle Class STAR Rebate Program and the forum explaining the program that will be held at Town Hall next week.
Homeowners who currently receive the Basic STAR exemption may be eligible for the new expanded Middle Class STAR Rebate Program. Greenburgh residents could be eligible to receive up to $1,498. Please click on this link to the Town’s web site for detailed information. Residents can obtain an application and a STAR code from the New York State Tax Department in order to apply.
For residents who do not receive a pre-printed application form the NYS Tax Department, a blank application will be available online or at the Office of the Town Assessor at Town Hall after Sept. 17, 2007. STAR codes can be obtained by contacting the NYS Tax Department at 1-877-678-2769.
The State is encouraging homeowners to apply online at http://www.nystax.gov/star/2007/. This is the fastest way to receive your rebate check.
Seniors who currently receive the Enhanced STAR exemption do not have to apply. These homeowners will get their STAR rebate checks automatically. Enhanced rebate checks are expected to be mailed by the State on September 3, 2007.
State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins will be hosting a forum on the new Middle Class STAR Rebate Program at Greenburgh Town Hall on Monday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. Town Assessor Edye McCarthy will also be in attendance and available to answer questions. For more information on that forum, please call 771-4190.
