Release Date: August 07, 2015

Courtney Massena, a resident of Hartsdale, is involved with the effort to keep Pets Alive shelter open. He's also involved in another local animal rights initiative that I think residents would be interested in...

Courtney is a  volunteer with Posh Pets Rescue. Posh rescues animals in need from city shelters, the street and other terrible situations- many saved from euthanasia. In Greenburgh, they  focus on cats/kittens and  are fortunate to have several of our cats/kittens reside at the PetSmart cat room, on Rt 119.  Posh Pets Rescue is a fully volunteer run organization and is soley funded by private donations.

On August 15th, Posh Pets Rescue and many rescues nationwide, will be participating in the National Clear the Shelter Event. This event is being sponsored by NBC4 and TELEMUNDO. It is our hope that with this event, Posh Pets Rescue will become a more well known, household name when people think of rescue groups. On August 15th, all of the adoptions that we do will be a no cost per our agreement to participate in this event.

5pm at Petsmart, 369 Tarrytown Road, Greenburgh, NY (Crossroads Shopping Center)

for an extraordinary adoption event – the national Clear The Shelters effort.

POSH PETS RESCUE, of Greenburgh and Long Beach New York, will be participating in

the national CLEAR THE SHELTERS effort.

The Clear The Shelters effort, part of a national initiative spearheaded by the

NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations division of NBCUniversal, pairs local

television stations with animal shelters across the country to find new homes for

homeless pets. On this national day of action, participating animal shelters and

rescue organizations, including Posh Pets Rescue, will waive all adoption fees.

At PetSmart in Greenburgh, NY, Posh Pets will create a compelling visual, with

approximately forty (40) adoptable cats on site. Many of Posh Pets Rescue cats are

saved from impending euthanasia at shelters in New York City. The rest come from

The Long Beach, NY Animal Shelter, which Posh Pets took responsibility for operating

in the wake of Hurricane Sandy. Through its partnership with PetSmart, Posh Pets

Rescue has been able to expand into the Westchester County community and

consistently works hard to find great homes for loving animals. Clear the Shelters

promises to be an extraordinary showing of the amount of care and concern that is

present throughout the community for pets in need.

Posh Pets Rescue is an all volunteer-run animal rescue group that works tirelessly to

save animals from high kill shelters, and other life-threatening circumstances. Posh

Pets Rescue is fortunate enough to have several volunteers who are willing to spend

every second they have outside of work and family saving animals: bringing them to

veterinary appointments, to spay/neuter appointments, getting them ready for

adoption, and trying to find them the perfect home.

Posh Pets Rescue is primarily foster-home based with foster parents caring for

animals as if they were their own until forever homes are found. Posh Pets Rescue

saves kittens, adult cats, senior cats, hospice cats, and special needs cats. Posh Pets

Rescue has cats of all ages, sizes, colors, and personalities and will work with

potential adopters to find the perfect fit for them and their families. By adopting

from Posh Pets Rescue, adopters are essentially saving multiple lives. Every cat or

kitten adopted from Posh Pets Rescue not only saves that cat, but also directly allows

Posh Pets to rescue another cat in his or her place.

While all adoption fees are waived for the Clear The Shelters effort, adopters must be

screened with Posh Pets' standard application. Potential adopters should get prescreened

by filling out the online application here:

About Posh Pets Rescue

Posh Pets Rescue is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of

homeless animals, many of whom are rescued at the very last moment from

euthanasia at the city shelters. We provide safe haven to all those who find their way

to us through whatever circumstance, whether abandoned, injured or neglected. No

matter the breed, health or age, we believe that all should live secure, healthy lives

and we work tirelessly in our attempts to find the right homes with people who will

love their pets for a lifetime.
