The Greenburgh Town Board will vote this Wednesday night to set the date for the 20 million dollar libraryexpansion referendum. Before the vote the public will have an opportunity to speak out and ask questions. The Board is considering a proposal to set the date for May 10, 2005. I believe that the referendum should be held on election day, November, 2005 when many more people will vote (elections are being held for town, county officials in November). There is an extra cost of $30,000 associated with holding a referendum in May (cost of election inspectors).
In addition………….TheTownBoard is being asked to EXEMPT THE TOWN FROM CERTAIN ZONING REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE LIBRARY EXPANSION. If this resolution is approved the town will not have to comply with the same laws and procedures that we require businesses and property owners to comply with.
