WHAT WE ARE DOING SO CRANE'S POND DOESN'T LOOK LIKE PEA SOUP THIS SUMMER
Release Date: June 15, 2013

Last year the Crane's Pond in the Edgemont hamlet of Greenburgh looked like pea soup. We received many complaints. And, contracted with a company based in Ct (www.the pndconnection.com) to apply aquatic herbicide to control the duckweed. The first treatment took place on May 30. There will be two additional treatments in July or August. The cost to the town is about $2700 for the treatment:
We hope this works. If it doesn’t we will try a different approach next year.
Recommendations from the company: Please continue to use aerating fountain for surface disruption and increased oxygen levels.
I drive past Crane’s Pond daily, am personally monitoring the situation. I welcome your feedback on this matter. And, promise you that we will continue to work to find a solution to the duckweed problem.
