TREE REMOVAL PROCESS--THEODORE YOUNG COMMUNITY CENTER WILL BE OPEN AS SHELTER TONIGHT...GOVERNORS ST
Release Date: March 15, 2010

Met with the Governor who came to the Theodore Young Community Center this morning. He announced to the few hundred people who attended his budget meeting that he hoped that most people will have their power restored by Wednesday. We are working very hard trying to re-open roads, restore power. The Governor also announced that he believes that localities will be eligible to receive FEMA reimbursement for this disaster.
THE THEODORE YOUNG COMMUNITY CENTER, 32 MANHATTAN AVE, WILL BE OPEN AS A WARMING CENTER AND OVERNIGHT SHELTER TONIGHT if you have no power. The center is located at 32 Manhattan Ave. 989 3600 is the phone, if you have any questions.  If you know of any senior citizen who needs to be checked on because they are living alone, aren't answering phone calls, we will check up on them.
My house also has been without power since Saturday afternoon so I understand what everyone is going through. Please be patient. The devastation was enormous and everyone is working as hard as possible to get your power on quickly, to reopen roads and to clean up the mess.

I received the following info from our forestry officer--that may be of interest.
The Town of Greenburgh is aware that many trees have been damaged as a result of this latest weather event, and that many property owners may be more concerned now with their trees based on all the damage which has recently occurred within the Town.

Please be advised that for all undeveloped properties, and all developed properties over one acre in size, as per Chapter 260 of the Town Code, a permit is required for the removal of any tree 6 inches in diameter at breast height (DBH) and greater, regardless of its condition. For damaged or hazardous trees, we will expedite the review process and issue an immediate permit for removal, however, we do require either photographs of the tree(s) in its hazardous condition, or a report from a certified arborist which details the hazardous condition of the tree.

Tree Removal Permit applications can be found by clicking on the following link:     http://www.greenburghny.com/FCpdf/Tree%20Removal%20Application%20%2801-02-09%29.pdf
